Delightful, beautifully decorated, cheerful apartment with large bedroom & king-size bed, living room: totally furbished kitchenette including full-sized refrigerator hidden in a closet, micro-wave, blender & stove, utensils/ pots & pans etc.: private full bathroom with tub and shower, full linens, towels etc. Pure drinking/ cooking water.
Private entrance in lower garden level of artist's townhouse--surrounded by a 250 year old wall. Totally private garden patio with Bouganvilla, 'Key Lime' tree, Banana tree, flowers and blue Plumbago and other vines etc.
DSL Internet connection. Satellite TV (watch TV twice get US East Coast prime time and then 3 hours later get US West Coast prime time). Local phone shared usage. Maid service once a week. Private food shopping tour (mercados or where the best places to buy from are), and/ or mexican cooking instruction available for $15 per hour.
Location, location, location as they say... Located in the San Antonio colonia(neighborhood) half a block from the Instituto Allende art school on Ancha de San Antonio, the main road in the area, which has a Domino's Pizza that delivers and a Blockbuster. Nearby are all the best art galleries, high fashion & antique shops, even has 2 tennis courts and a swimming pool you pay to use: same for horseback riding, hiking in nature preserve. You can also get a cab to spend the day at Taboada-the natural hot mineral springs just outside of town, with a hot tub, and large swimming pool (same water less hot) in a natural setting. There is golf in SMA too.
San Antonio is an old colonia (area here is flat, not up or down some hill)--the house is physically inside the exclusive Aldea enclave, next to the Aldea Hotel, but has own entrance on Orizaba Street. Surrounded by mansions it is as safe as you can get in this town (an important consideration).
They come from all over San Miguel to shop in San Antonio: the gourmet/ cheese shop, the Italian gourmet shop, the organic vegetable shop, the 2 small supermarkets, french butcher, wine store, bakeries, laundromat, 24-hour pharmacy, day spas, gyms. Close to a convenience store with ATM open 24 hours (like a 7-11).
Very easy to get taxi's either outside or a safe walk down half a block to Ancha de San Antonio, the main street nearby. Or only a 15 minutes walk to the Jardin/ Zocolo (town square, where locals sit and people watch), nightclubs & restaurants in town or a 10 minute walk to Bellas Artes art school. Uptown even has a good Chinese restuarant.
No pets, no children.
